 Communicare has formalized its commitment to the delivery of social housing by forging partnerships with the City of Cape Town and the Provincial Government of the Western Cape 's Housing Department. Such partnerships will create an enabling development environment for social housing delivery. This in turn will support the creation of well designed, higher density urban precincts, and the building of new communities in well located areas of the City.
This commitment has now been extended into engagements with the private sector. This is founded on the acknowledgement that viable public-private partnerships are crucial to redressing the housing challenge facing the country. Communicare is of the opinion that social housing programmes are set to play a pivotal role in integrating our changing urban environments and residential communities.

As part of an ongoing programme of interacting with colleagues from local authorities, other social housing institutions, professionals and housing practitioners, Communicare welcomed a delegation of senior officials from the Provincial Government's Department of Public Works to the Aliwal Gardens development on the 22 nd March 2007. The objective was to introduce the project to the provincial authorities and to publicise the Company's new affordable housing initiatives.
The engagement was extremely positive and the two organisations have committed to working closely together in the future to ensure the ongoing delivery of quality affordable social housing. |
