The Communicare Property Development and Maintenance Department manages all technical and planning aspects of the Company's existing properties. They also identify and study the feasibility of potential future developments. The acquisition of land for future developments also falls within the department's scope.

Developments, once identified, shown to be feasible and approved by the Company's Board, are developed either wholly in-house or with the assistance of private consultants.

The maintenance and upgrading of the company's existing property portfolio as well as the keeping and updating of records of such properties is also an important function of this Department.

A wide range of developments have been successfully completed by this department in the past ranging from housing projects to shopping centres and complexes for retired persons.

This exciting new development is located in Ruyterwacht, approximately 200m off Voortrekker Road and east of the Grant West Casino. It is within walking distance to schools and shopping centres and has easy access to public transport. Aliwal Gardens is easily accessible from the N1 and N2.

The development will be based on the “Dutch woonerf” concept, with the average erf size approximately 125m². The two bedroom unit has an internal area of approximately 89m² and the three bedroom unit approximately 108m².

Building commenced during November 2005 and the status on the project is as follows;

Construction has commenced and is progressing well. Completion is anticipated in the last quarter of 2008.
